What were the circumstances surrounding this vomiting?
Were you feeding him? Someone else? How many times has he thrown up after eating? Just once?

Here are some possibilities:
1. He has acid reflux and shouldn't lay down for 30 minutes after eating. (did he have a problem learning to breastfeed? Sometimes these 2 problems go hand in hand). Adding rice cereal to his formula might work too. Depending on what formula you use, you might want to try Similac Advance with Iron.

2. He was fed too much too fast....this happens if the person doing the feeding is "propping the bottle" instead of holding it, or if the bottle has too big of a hole in the tip.

Taking him to the dr is the best thing. He could be developing an allergy to the formula. It may be too thick/or rich for his tummy to handle. My daughter started that sort of thing at around that age, and I started putting oatmeal in her bottle to take away some of the richness in the formula. It worked great. I punched a couple small holes with a safety pin in the nipple, and put some of the gerber baby oatmeal (tablespoon to start), and she just sucked away like it was nothing. I also gave her gas drops occasionally. Good luck!!

I put my daughter on soy, for her it worked the doctor said it was some kind of milk allergy because the regular formula would make her very constipated so she would throw up cause the formula wasn't able to pass through her system, its worth a try.

Maybe change formulas.

Reflux is quite common in babies, but shouldn't result in them throwing everything up.

Maybe he's getting too much in him. The recomended amount they state a baby at that age should be drinking is only a guildline. Some bablies drink more, some drink less. Maybe you're baby is getting too much. That happened the my cousins and niece. They had more then their little tummies could contain and threw it all back up!

Otherwise see your family doctor.

When it comes to your children, find a good doctor your happy with, as I've found that some doctors are more experienced with children then others.

I was also on WIC with my babies. Once i switched the formula my daughter was on and everything went really well. She couldn't handle the dairy formula. I'm glad you are going to the doctor first. that will get all of the problems out of the way.

Give him some pedialite (Don't know how to spell it) It will ensure that he doesn't get dehydrated. Get a medicine dropper and give him a little at a time. He might just have an upset stomach if there is no fever. Keep him hydrated though because throwing up can take a lot out of him.

Acid reflux, my son had it around the same time as yours, the Dr. prescribes Zantac, but it didn't help at all, then he told me to put a little bit of cereal in his formula to make it thicker and that actually did it, hope your son don't get too bad, I know is very frustrating for parents when that happens, best of luck.

Also try changing to another brand of formula.

Could be an allergy to the formula, or bad reflux, or if he has projectile vomiting it could be a condition called pyloric stenosis when the pyloric muscle in the lower part of the stomach is too small and formula cannot be digested....good luck, glad your taking him to the doctor!

Call his doctor and see what formula they recommend to switch to. Since he keeps throwing up give him pedialyte after he throws up. It will give him everything he loses when he throws up. I had the same problem with my doctor. She was drinking Similac for about 7 months and her sitter started giving her a different brand and I didnt know it and my daughter was constantly throwing up when I gave her Similac. In the end I had to switch to Nestle Good Start and now she is fine. Her doctor recommended giving Pedialyte also.

My daughter did this each and all of the time too. What I did grow to be prop the pinnacle end of her crib up with books below the legs of crib. additionally burp her for an further long term after feeding her and don't lay her down superb after feeding her. It comes from the little flap in our esophagus no longer being progressed sufficient to hold the fluid down. it is going to probable get extra useful by employing approximately 7-9 months. yet stable element she's no longer underweight.
