3G phone has 2 cameras...the front one and the back one. The front one is meant for video telephony, when you're making calls to someone who also has 3G phone, this front camera will act like a video cam so the person you're talking to can view you and vice versa. The back camera is meant for taking pictures like the ordinary phone (GSM phone). Basically that is the added benefit. The rest of the functions are the same like ordinary GSM phone...ringtones..wallpapers..screensaver..games, sms, mms, wap etc. Another thing, if you use 3G phone, you can still access GSM network but GSM phone cannot access 3G network.
If you want to enjoy 3G services..the only way you can do so is by using 3G phone. Other than video telephony, the biggest benefit you can obtain from 3G services is high data rate. Using your 3G phone as a modem which you connect to your laptop or desktop pc via bluetooth or data cable or infrared (whichever is applicable depending on the phone) you can do dial up and access internet at high speed..like a broadband connection. Plus you can also get connected while on the move..anywhere..anytime..as long as you have 3G network coverage. And while you're connected for data services, you can also receive and make calls without interruption.
Before I forget, 3G phone is on the expensive side..maybe a year or two from now there will be cheaper models.
