I ask because there's a character of mine and she was a fairy in a past life-now she is an angel, and I don't really plan to change those bio and stats, no matter how farfetched the idea sounds. I think it is possible (only in fiction/fantasy) for some fairies to either be mortal or become mortal, like Santa Claus. :P

no I don't believe in fairies-but I am a fantasy afficionado-I would like to add that I think it is sad for people to lose their innocence at a certain point of time...fantasy is MUCH more wonderful than reality is...

The fair folk (fairies) can choose to become mortal. Most common reason to do so -- LOVE -- After they make this choice they must live in the mortal world and will age and eventually die. They can never return to their own world. There are stories of this -- check Celtic legend.
PS -- why not believe in fairies?

It doesn't matter what other legends there are. If it's your own story, then you can write whatever you want, and anyone who protests to a depiction of fairies as mortal has some kind of mental problem. They're STORIES, for Chrissake!

Fairies? Are we talking Peterpan Tinkerbell fairies or are we talking about Tooth Fairies or are we talking light in the loafers , "fairies" ?
Otherwise, fairies don't exist love. Lay off the Disney books honey bun.
