You know when I was 6 years old I asked the same question but my momma amd daddy didn'
t know. So thenight before Christmas I stayed up all night and hid behind our sofa and I saw Santa. I asked him and he told me that before he leaves for his work Mrs. Claus gives him a hot cup of strong coffee but of course the reindeer don't get any coffee so Mrs. Claus got the idea to put bells on the sleigh to keep the reindeer from falling asleep. Merry Christmas to you and I hope Santa gives you what you want

to let the burglars know he is in the hood so they can plan their next job.
no, how about this. so kids will think its time for school, so they stay in their beds pretending to be sleep.
no, how about this. So mommy will know when to slip out of the bedroom and make her way to the tree with some egg nog.
no, how about this. because he wants to be there with bells on!
because it reminds him that we are a bunch of ding-a-lings to teach this silly idea to our children.
