I'm sending a lot of care packages to the troops in Iraq and need some help. If you were there, what would you want? What kind of snacks, activities, books, etc? Will you give me ideas? Thank you!

Anything to help keep their morale up, and remind them of the good ole "USA". DRINKS: Gatorade, powdered drink mixes, Brisk tea mix, Crystal Light (individual packets they can easily mix).
FOOD: Beef Jerky or Slim Jims (absolutely NO pork allowed). Cookies, granola bars, oatmeal (instant), Ravioli (pop top cans), tuna kits, trail mix, candy (anything that won't melt), gum, breath mints, instant coffee, tea bags, powdered hot chocolate, Chex Mix, peanut butter, crackers, snack cakes, Top Ramen, Cup of Soups. TOILETRIES/HYGIENE: Individual packets of Wet Wipes, eye drops, deodorant (non-aerosol), foot powder, hand sanitizers (waterless), Tylenol, Razors, Chapstick, Sunblock, Shampoo, soap/body wash. OTHER: Magazines, Books (appropriately chosen), local papers, American Flags (small), baggies (zip lock), bug spray (must be non-aersol), duck tape, disposable cameras, shoe insole cushions, sunglasses, socks (black--thick to withstand lots of walking), word puzzle books, post cards from your state, Bandanas, decks of cards, baseball caps, cards, dice, dominoes, small Bibles, etc.

Copies of: Rolling Stone, Maxim, Motor Trend, Cosmo ( for the ladies )

Snacks: Anything that wont get damaged in transit

Activities: Why not send some CD's? Or how about an inexpensive MP3 player loaded with some music?

Just some thoughts!

A co-worker of mine was in Iraq for about 13 months. When we sent her a package she wanted things like bags of chips, Cheetos, cookies, gum, hard candy, hand wipes in individual packs so they can keep them in their pockets, magazines, etc. Just make sure you check the expiration date on the snacks you send because they will take several weeks to arrive there.

I read an article saying that the troops need deodorant. I also read that they like magazines. I would send some women's and men's magazines. As for food, as long as it's something that will stay fresh for the journey, I think they'll appreciate anything. Thank you for caring for our troops!

When my bro was in Bosnia we sent him stuff that reminded him of home. Even silly stuff. Good things are hometown news papers, boxes of Kraft dinner(you have that in the States too don't you?), something that is really American like a childhood candy(I'm Canadian so I'm not sure what that would be for you. It would be Smarties for us.) You could send a simple Christmas decoration. Good for you for sending cheer to those guys and girls. It means alot to them. Merry Christmas.

Here you go. I found this a few months ago. Its a web page for snipers, But all this goes for just about anyone there. It has a compleat list of what our troops need from home to continue to do the job they do for us.

Batteries, chapstick, Desitin (stuff for athlete's foot), disposable cameras, socks, phone cards, beige t-shirts, hand-held games, playing cards, match box cars, hard candy, and nail polish. This stuff sounds pretty random but my school was collecting some stuff and this is what they had asked for. Isn't it cute that those guys want to play with their toy cars!

I would want letters from all my family stating how much they love and care about me and miss me with family pictures to go along with it. probably an individual letter from my significant other, like not family, but like husband/wife bf/gf sort of significant other.
