Simple solution:
Feed the fish before you leave and cut a slice of green zucchini squash, rubber band it to a rock and drop it in the tank. this will act as a self feeder for a few days. Your fish will be fine, I do this all the time. Be sure to clean the water when you get back and remove any uneaten zucchini.
Another thing you can do is lower the temp by 2-5 degrees . If you have a heater on the tank. because the lower the temp. the lower their metabolism will be and less they will require to eat.
Have a good time and don't worry about the fish, they will be OK.

Fish can easily go 5-days with food, I've done it before. I've also got mouthbrooders which go 3-6 weeks without eating all the time. I routinely feed some of my other fish (puffers) once every 2-3 days and they're doing great.

Feed them well in the days leading up to your departure and then take your holiday (they'll be fine when you get back).

Your fish should be fine for 5 days w/o food and they will not start eating each other after just 5 days. But I would feed them like everyone said right before you leave and soon as you return.I have fish and I go w/o feeding mine for 5 days sometimes and they are fine.Overfeeding fish is alot worse than underfeeding them.I have african cichlids and they will eat on what algae there is on the plants. So go on your trip and relax and have a good time.

Your fish will be fine while you're gone. I've heard that fish can last about a week without food. But you should feed them right before you leave and right after you get back. If you're really worried - you should have a friend come and feed them at least once or twice.

Fish in nature do not find food every day. Fish will survive for 15 days without feeding.

depends on what kind of tropical fish. most about 3-4 days and still be okay, just make sure you feed them right before you leave (no extra it just rots) and right when you get home. a better option thought would be if you got feeder blocks. they're made to last a week you just drop it in and it slowly releases food

no 5 days is too much and even if they could live without food for 5 days you shouldnt take a risk...unless you dont care..but im sure u care :)

Go to the pet store and get something like this

http://www.petco.com/Shop/Product.aspx?R=9957&Nav=1&N=24+30+4866&Ntt=fish&cp=6&Nao=60&sku=38466&familyID=3399&

Ive used these a number of times and they work great. Just make sure u get the type that is more then 3 days.

depends on how many are in the tank. if they are not feed by day 2 they will start eating each other! they sell blocks that slowly dissolve(food). this is your best bet. check with your local pet or department store. if you have a walmart, they carry these. it will come w/ info. on how much to use for this time. it depends on size of fish & how many there is.. :)

They will easily be able to last for five days, just feed them right before you leave. And the rest of the advice I had was just mentioned by Gigit, listen to him/her, they are correct in everything they said.
