Why does it get colder as you go up a mountain>?

Winds will blow air up and down mountains. As air is forced upward, it expands and cools; when going downward, it is compressed and heated.

There isnt as much oxygen as you go higher and higher, so the atoms become less frequent and you lose oxygen
