I think that it is more the fact that the baby has to be on methadone. Now there is a good reason to take the baby away.

We need SO much more information.
Was the doctor who prescribed it aware that you were pregnant/breastfeeding? If so, you have to prove that by asking the state to look at your medical records. It will be there.
Did you get a prescription for this BEFORE getting pregnant/starting to breastfeed? If so, the doctor had nothing to do with that. That's on YOU and yeah, they will likely take the baby away.
How old is this prescription? Was this a refill? Was the original written before you were pregnant/breastfeeding? If so, and you didn't see that doctor again after getting pregnant/starting to breastfeed, it's on you again. There's a whole sheet of warnings that come with most drugs. You should have read it.
You need to tell a doctor about it right away! If a doctor prescribed this KNOWING about your condition, see a different one and report this. They can inform the authorities that it wasn't your fault. If it was one of the other two scenarios in which it wasn't the doctor's fault, you still need to tell someone. The state will take showing your responsibility in the mistake into account when they decide whether to take the baby.
Good luck. I hope this works out for the best, whatever that is.

YES!
And in my point of view they should. Methadone is a narcotic used for drug rehabbers. It proves that at some point you were addicted to drugs while pregnant. Methadone and any drugs or alcohol can seriously harm your unborn child. Low birth weight, abnormalities, mental retardation, and so many more issues. The fact is, if you were retarded enough to use drugs while pregnant you should have no rights to your child.
Your child didn't ask to be made, and didn't ask for a druggie as a parent, so why keep harming them.
Besides methadone IS NOT prescribed when your pregnant due to all the health risks to the fetus. It's like prescribing crack cocaine or crystal meth to a pregnant woman.........highly doubt a doctor would risk his lisence and money for that.

No if you have a prescription and your OB is aware of it you are doing no wrong I was given Vicotin for Gaul Bladder attacks when I was pregnant, my OB said it was the smart thing to do either induce labor at 27 weeks and have a extremlly premature baby so I could have my gaul bladder removed or take the Vicotin. I only took in when I was in unberable pain & my daughter had no problems

I dont believe they could if it was prescribed to you by your doctor and your doctor knew that you were pregnant than i dont think so. Why could they take the baby away if it was prescribed to you by your doctor? Good luck.

It does not harm the baby. They have no reason to take the child.

If you have a presription and can prove it, you should be okay. Please see your doctor about whether or not you can take it during the pregnancy.
