I'm a US citizen and I'd like to take a trip to visit some friends, one in Lebanon and another in Israel. I know you can't directly travel between the countries, but is it possible to go Lebanon -> somewhere -> Israel? Or are there restrictions on going to Israel with a Lebanese stamp in your passport? (I've heard you can't go to Lebanon with an Israeli stamp.)

Lebanon's visa requirements forbid entry to anyone with an Israeli stamp in their passport.

No restriction on Israel visa comming from Lebanon.

You can fly Beirut - Amman/Jordan
Amman - Tel Aviv

In case you want to Israel first, you can get your entry stamp on the israeli border on your entry form al-17 and not on the passport. but only upon request. that way you won't have any problems to go from Israel to Lebanon

Yes you can!!!

When entering Israel you can ask that they don't stamp your passport. Instead they will give you a stamped form that is separate from the passport and you will have to hold on to until you leave.

Then you can fly out to Cyprus or Greece and from there to Lebanon with a clean passport.

This is very acceptable in Israel and they allow it since lots of businessmen and tourist don't want their passport stamped with Israeli identity due to some Arab countries regulation forbidding entry to who ever visited Israel.

When you come to Lebanon don't forget to visit the Zahleh wineries.

As a US citizen you are pretty much guaranteed that the Lebanese will scour your passport in search of an Israeli stamp. They will not allow you to enter the country if you do, indeed, possess one. In case you need to know though, you can get a visa upon entry to Lebanon.....and US dollars are primary currency in use.
