A scientist would tell you that you are classified as Caucasian (There are three main branches- Caucasian, *******, and Mongoloid). All of your ancestors are caucasion. The simple fact that Spanish people and Native American Indians have a little bit darker skin does not make them white as well. So you are a mix of different caucasian branches which is why people refer to you as white.

Your defensiveness is your downfall, Hon. When placed in an uncomforting catagory of being, let your pride over-ride this by simply informing the itemizer that you are not caucasian, but of mixed heritage that encompasses many cultures. I hope that you are quite knowledgeable of your ancestry in case they wish to learn more. Your greater learning will also provide you with an air of knowing that may waylay future endeavors to catagorize you in the first place. Enjoy the journey into yourself!

you can't.... stop eveyroen form calling oyu that.
However, if it's a friend or soemone who you care about, or are going to see quite often, you just correct them. When they say, Hey White Girl, you just say, "thjat's not correct, I'm mixed, and I would appreciate it if you called me Andy".. and do it in a respectful tone, no need to escalte situations, right?
if they ignore you or talk crap, then, they;re not worth your time, forget about them and know that the important people respect you.

How often does it happen that people refer to you as "white girl." When it does happen, tell them that's not who you are and what you want to be called.

Best thing you can do for yourself...decide "who cares" what they think. If they are people you'd likely never see again, they and their opinions don't matter. If it's people you will see often though, no harm in correcting them, just make a joke out of the correction. ; )

if you are mixed, and "white girl" is not apt, then you should tell those people the right name you want them to use. would it be ok then, to say you are simply American ?

Choose your battles and I would say ignore these people. Be proud of who you are and you will earn peoples respect. Don't pay them the attention they are trying to get.

You deal with it, like everyone else does. We're all lumped into certain racial groups. We all deal with it.
