Put out food for it and treat it as a pet. Squirrels are easily tamed and a regular riot to watch.
I assume you and you "roommates" are renting? So why not have some fun with it?
And you know it would be a good choice because you said "when a live squirrel", had it been a dead squirrel, well that would have been kind of erie and would have stunk as well.
Hey, have some fun with that one.

Call a pest expert, the critter is going to bite the p_i_s_s_ out of you. If it cannot escape, put some sleeping tablets, valum, darvocet, xanex, whatever is handy in a kibble and toss it in the closet. When the squirrel has relaxed, grab him-her w/ a leather glove, put a few strips of duct tape on it's paws for good measure and turn it loose.

You need a live trap and bait it with peanut butter and nuts. Try and secure room and allow the squirrel to trap itself. I doubt either you or friends are fast enough to "herd" or capture a wild squirrel. Traps can be secured from almost any garden or farm store.

Well, you do sorta need to get rid of him in case of rabies, and if your Humane Society or Fire Dept will help, accept that help. After that, my sense of humor got loose. If you like him, feed him nuts and leave water out for him. If you dislike him, a python might be something you could give the little critter for Christmas? Course, then you'd have a python with a lump in it to get rid of . . .

If you want to kill it lock it in the closet.
Put a bowl of anti freeze out
It will drink the anti-freeze and die.
Sounds cruel I know but it could have flees or rabies and it is only a rat with a tail.
If you want to catch it try a fishing net

Your local Humane Society may be able to loan you a live trap or they will catch it for you. Or Call the Fire Department. Sometimes they have something that will help.

I had a pet squirrel once. Use potato chips to bait it out, they love chips.

Name him Fred and welcome him as part of the family. He will eventually become bored with the tame life and go back out to the wild. If you leave an opening to the wild he will leave sooner as soon as he finds it.
