We make war so that we may live in peace. While I completely agree that wars should be avoided and that some wars could have been avoided, we really don't have a choice in the matter. While some wars are fought over items such as water, oil, other form of power and wealth, some wars are necessary for the protection of a nation and perhaps for the greater good of people. George Bush Jr's latest "crusade" against terrorism is a completely reasonable war, why should we have to lose our citizens, our families lives and stand idly by. People must make a stand, ultimately, if people are willing to harm and kill us, why should we not resort to the same measures to guarantee our own safety? However, while this war against terror is an unavoidable conflict, is it merely just a smoke screen. There are various theories which state that all the latest wars were not about removing a definite threat, but about securing safety by becoming richer, specifically the latest Iraq war and the vast reserves of oil.

Every country in the world at this point is either at war or just a few steps away. Some reasons are for power. Others are for wealth. And yet others are in defense of freedom. By mishandling the situations with Iran, North Korea, and Darfur the United Nations is showing increasing ineffectiveness. If this continues to spiral out of control everyone in the world will have had a hand in causing World War 3.

Israel, the main reason behind it is that two different peoples of two different faiths claim that this land is theirs. The nation of Israel was established in 1948 by the UN to give the Jews, who had just recently endured a horrible Holocaust against them in Europe, a rightful homeland. While in exile the Palestinians took over the land that once belonged to the Jews. The country is an extremely sacred place for both the Jews and the Muslim Palestinians as well as for Christians. Most Muslim countries don't acknowledge Israel as a nation, and the President of Iran Mr. Ahmadinejad, has claimed that the Holocaust was a hoax and has threatened to blow Israel off of the map. This coming from a country which is in the process of developing nuclear technologies, scary huh? Most people think it is likely that Iran is not pursuing these types of programs merely for peaceful purposes as they claim, but to use them as a weapon against Israel. I think an all out war between Iran and Israel if not many other nations is inevitable.
