Just did two doors last week!
I use a motor hoist to support the doors through the window openings (use lots of padding). Remove the "C" clip on the pins if they have them. Using a long punch, drive out the old pins, (up on the bottom, down on the top). Move the door out of the way slightly to drive out the old bushings and drive in the new. You can disconnect the wiring harness, but it's not neccessary.
Note which way the bushings face before you drive them in. Use the other door as a guide. It's not a real hard job, but those doors are heavy. You gotta support them safely.
The way I replace the check sprngs is to compress them in a vise, and use two strong wires to tie them compressed, then put them where they go on the door and partly close it, then clip the wires with a pair of diagonals.

i own a repair shop, and its not easy ,,but it can be done,,the pin kit will cost around 8 bucks ,and you need a real good floor jack, and a helper, you knock the old pins out, while the jack helps support the door, and the helper holds it strait,, once all the pins are out bring the door out a little, and replace the bushings,in both parts of it,,then put the door back in place,,and put the new pins back in,,this may be hard to get lined up,,so be care full not to damage the bushings ,,if yours has the round springs on it,,its going to be hard to get the door back in place,,but it can be done,i do it all the time here at the shop,,good luck with it,i hope this help,s.

These are a notorious problem and GM even makes a special tool which makes the removal and replacement of these pins about 1000% easier. Not really worthwhile to buy the tool for your own vehicle since you'll only use it once but it literally takes hours off the time required to do the job!
Personally, I wouldn't mess with it but take it to a mechanic that has this tool.

follow dodge mans answer but the only thing I can add is to go to auto zone and buy a door spring compressor this will make your life that much easier. It is a tool that will compress teh srping and then you put the spring in place and unscrew the tool until the spring is intack. I bought one of those tools for around $8 and have used it many times. It is nice to have and people will want to borrow it.

take a drift and drive them out,if you can get to them.if you cant then you might have to take off the door.if you take off the door, make a drawing around the hinge so you can put it back on the same place.
