well, the meteor that hit in New Mexico was 88 feet in diameter, all made a mile wide crater that was 1000 feet deep, so given that data, I can ROUGHLY say that a 30 mile wide asteroid would cause a crater 1500 miles wide and 340 miles deep. Since the earth's crust is only ten miles deep, the meteor would penetrate DEEP into the mantle. The entire atmosphere would super heat instantaneously. We would all bake, even before the mantle hit us. The fishies would survive the longest.
The good news is that we would see something that big coming. So maybe we could make a space ark and a cool movie about it to go along with the whole thing. The real question is would you want to be on that ark as they dwindle away into a slow dystopian death.

I'm not sure there are any meteors or asteroids that big. If there are and one that size were to strike planet earth, there'd be nothing left of any us.

that depends entirely on the location of the impact. if it were to hit antarctica there would be far less casualties than if it were to hit new york city.
