While they do other things under the radar that are more important than gay marraige, stem cell research, and abortion....

As long as our corrupt two-party political system can keep us distracted with trivial, emotional issues such as gay marriage, flag burning, abortion, and other matters that are not the government's concern, the stranglehold the 'Republicrats' have on our way of government remains secure and in place.
It also keeps the 'Republicrats' from focusing on issues that should really matter, such as: the incompetent, arrogant, evil, incorrigible, contemptible, corrupt U.S. Congress; illegal and unconstitutional 'wars' such as the one now going on in Iraq to sustain the profits of the giant U.S. military-industrial complex and American oil companies; shoddy election practices and disgusting, repugnant election advertising; immoral, deceptive Congressional spending habits; and the fact that the U.S.A. is perilously close to economic bankruptcy and fiscal ruin.
Of course the government keeps us divided. If we worry about emotional issues, we forget about the real serious issues facing Americans that politicians fail to do anything about. -RKO-

People in the US don't realize it, but yes, the government intentionally keeps the lower/middle classes divided. That's how they've been doing business ever since they've been dividing and conquering the Native Americans since 1492. Read Howard Zinn's A People's History of the United States. Knowledge is power. And this book is powerful. It may make you turn in your stomach to know that your government has been feeding the people BS to keep the masses divided and maintain the status quo.

So far, just from reading your question, I don't even know who you are talking about when you refer to "the government."

There are three branches in the federal government and there are multiple levels of government.

So even the U.S. Supreme Court can and should be thought of as "the government."

If you are trying to say that the U.S. Supreme Court was full of BS when it handed down its decision in Lawrence v. Texas -- striking down "sodomy laws" -- then you are completely right. It really, REALLY was a lot of BS.

And the Supreme Court does indeed do whatever the hell they want to do. If they want to steal a presidential election they can. And they did.

But I doubt that's what you meant. Please explain exactly who you ARE talking about when you say "the government."

It is an intentional endeavor, however not always successful. Think for yourself and teach your children to think for themselves. Take the News & media with a grain of salt. Don't believe everything you hear, or see. Rely on your good common sense, and then we'll have some immunity.

Your ranting. Focus, focus, focus. Take a few deep breathes and knock back a shot of something 110 proof.

The government never did that.
It's living human kind who always say "Winner takes it all" while others live in misery in planet of apes.
They could not come up with an answer with those "Three little words" on "Who are you" left behind by our creator for each and every living human kind to come up with an answer vital for their own survival and advancement of themselves in planet of apes.
Always telling others "Winner takes it all" in planet of apes.

I agree with you. The major issues are glossed over or swept under the rug. Abortion won Bush his first election, and it hasn't been an issue since. This happens over and over.

Historically speaking, that has been the way for centuries all over the world.

Divide and conquer. Get them to fight among themselves.
