A drummer, a keyboardist, a basist, two guitars, and two singers. Would it work or just fall apart??? I know Slipknot has 9 members but that band kind of pisses me off. (Don't go into it...stick with the first question...please for all our sakes...)

I think as long as you all can play and you have chemistry it should turn out fine. I have learned one thing in my years of playing, lots of people have talent, but few bands have true chemistry togeather. You, can't just be togeather for the music or all you will have is music and your audience can feel that. You have all got to be friends, and keep each others creative styles in mind. If you all share a common musical goal that is great but if you pull in seven different directions then it will tear you apart.

I believe that 7 members would work, just like 3 members have worked, just like 9 members have worked, just the same as a hundred or more in complete orchestration have worked many many a time. It's not about how many people. It's about what each of the artist has to contribute into the entire band's output and how well does it work for the whole band. If 6 members are great and one of the guitarists just doesn't work out, well, guitarists are a dime a dozen and you can always find someone else to take the place and bring you where you need to be.

yes, i guess so... it doesn't really matter, it's just the music and how good you are and how you can still keep up with life while being in a band...

you know that slipknowt has 9 members, right? well, everybody knows slipknot and they have pretty great music [at least my classmateS say so], so a 7 member would would work..

I think it would work, as long as you didn't go Beatles and split up over artistic differences. Or that Yoko chick. Anyways, I think the main thing that would be challenging is the people side of it. Getting seven people to agree is harder than getting three or four to cooperate.
