If you are on methadone, then your doctor, who is prescribing it to you, will coordinate with the hospital on special care your infant will need once he/she is born. In addition, since this is a medication your doctor is prescribing, the state should NOT take your infant. A very important fact for you to know is that if you are on methadone during pregnancy, you should NOT go off of it because your baby will go through dangerous withdrawal in the womb.

Um...I'm a little uneducated on the exact composition and use of methadone but I was under the assumption that it was a drug that didn't harm you used when you got over a long term addiction to a hardcore drug like heroin, cocaine, etc that your body now requires to function. If that IS the case and you are using it under the care of a physician or clinic then I do not think the state will take the baby if your tox screen is clear except for that. If you're using it without permission or abusing it or it's not what I think it is then yes they would take the baby probably.
PS- "Meth" that you have usually heard referenced is not methadone you idiots! It's methamphetamine! Ugh don't speak out of place.

I am not sure I believe they will. But, I do not want to be the one to judge you I am sure you had this addiction before you became pregnant but I honestly maybe if you want to stop before the baby is born you should look into finding a place that helps pregnant women. Maybe search on yahoo. Also, maybe consider other options so you do not put your baby at risk such as abortion or aboption. Well, I wish you the best of luck sweetheart. Remember take it one day at a time, no one is perfect. Honestly I don't know much about methadone one person said it is a painkiller, just becareful and take it easy.

Since your methadone was prescribed by a doctor, and is administered by a state-licensed methadone clinic, and you are on no other drugs, I don't see why they'd take your baby. You shouldn't have a problem - unless there are other, unrelated abuse or neglect issues.

For the uneducated Metadone is a painkiller, not an illegal drug like Meth! Talk to your doctor about the safety of taking this painkiller while pregnant. Some pain killers are safe to take, but Methadone is one of the strongest.

Depends on why you are on methadone. If it is legal I would say no way. On the other hand if it is the non legal way, The state should not only take the baby but up you in prison for endangering the life of a baby.

when they drug test you and they will (whether you know it or not) and you have so much of it it your system then yes they will take your baby from you. If you are far from about to have your baby or even like a week away STOP taking METHODONE right NOW. It will take about 72 hours for a pain killer to clear your system.
I would stop taking it now if i were you

I can't say that I know the exact laws, but I can share an experience. My nephew was born with meth in his system, and his mother didn't suffer any reprecussions because of it. He did, however, spend his first month of life in the neonatal ICU because he had many complications (he was also born prematurely). God bless you and your little one.

"IF" you are really concerned about the health of your baby, then check into a rehab now. Kick the habit, save 2 lives and the state will look at you as someone who made a mistake, corrected it and "IF" you keep clean, will let you keep and raise your baby.
Best Wishes.
