Although this has absolutely nothing to do with the category it's posted in...I couldn't agree with you more.

The spelling/grammar just shows the sad state of the educational system in the U.S. today...and how lazy and apathetic the people in it and coming out if it are, not to care how they come across when (attempting to) communicating in a text based medium.

...and pussycat, it's advice (not advise) so even with spell check, if you don't know what word to use, it cannot help you...

Good question. It is because of the decline of educational standards that have been observed for a number of years now by university professors in the incoming freshman. Mastery of a subject is no longer seen as necessary and it is considered sufficient by many high schools for the student to only "be familiar with" a subject.
It also has to do with laziness and the lack of self discipline because very little effort now is required and, so, never is learned.
Popular media and technology have shortened attention spans and the ability to think critically.

I agree! Its so much easier to read answers when you don't have to try to 'decode' the words. Plus bad spelling makes you look really stupid! I find it hard to respect someone's opinion who can't even be bothered to spell correctly.
P.S. What is such a big deal about getting two points??? Is there some big payoff that I don't know about if you get to the next level? So stupid!!!

The reason why people don't bother to use spell check because people such as Rhea and Jeannie tells the teenagers asking questions that it is acceptable to make mistakes and spell wrong. If we continue to send this message to our children, we will have a future full of people such as "George Bush".

It's mostly the kids who use their "texting" language. My teenagers can read it just fine. I have to think too hard to write that way, it's easier for me to just type correctly, which was the way I was taught. I guess it's kind of like their version of shorthand. Whatever.............

Spelling correctly is not what we are here for, we are here to offer advise. My question to you is why is it more important to spell correctly? I would say you are a little anal and I know many people who have embarrassed themselves heaps without spelling incorrectly.
I used spell check for you.....
