Snacking often will only trigger hunger more often, especially if the snacks are carbs.
This is what I do to stay slender.:
Keep my caloric intake to 1000 calories a day.
I eat only every 12 hours, so my hunger strikes every 12 hours because that's what it is used to. Once you try the 12 hour waiting period for a few days, your brain will automaticly tell you you're hungry every 12 hours, from then on.
The pain of feeling hungry only lasts a few days, then you are home free.
Sticking to 1000 calories a day is easy.
I make a ham sandwich(2 slices) on white bread with mustard, pickle, lettuce and tomatoe.
I eat chips that are only 5 calories each. I eat 8.
I eat one half of a canned pear or peach
I eat 1/4 cup of green beans flavored with a beef boullion cube and sprinkled with dried chopped onion, cooked for flavor.
Sometimes I eat spinach with lemon juice.
I eat one fun size candy bar for dessert
I drink diet cokes all day. The caffiene helps curb hunger strikes.
All of that comes to about 480 to 500 calories, leaving you 500 more to use at dinner time.
I eat right before bed so I can sleep comfortably.
Also pick up some low calorie frozen dinners, turkey, chicken and beef deli slices.
Making deli style sandwiches by using small hamburger buns is 10 calories less than plain white bread, if you buy the right brands.
Look for buns that are only 110 calories.
Get bread that is only 60 calories per slice.
If you like cold asparagus, eat 1/2 cup instead of green beans. I just put salt on the cold asparagus.
Use SMART SQUEEZE on a medium baked potato. The potato is 100 and the SMART SQUEEZE(found in the butter section) is only 5 calories per Tablespoon.
I occasionally(about twice a week use mayonaise on toasted bread for my sandwiches as a treat.
Toasted bread is 10 calories more per slice than untoasted.
Look at the calories of everything you buy and take a sheet of paper and a calculater and figure out your meals ahead of time that keep in the 500 calorie range per meal.
I also use regular oreos for dessert at times. Not the double stuff.
The regular ones are only 50 calories a peice.
Once you have lost the amount of weight, you want, treat yourself to pizza or a fast food restaurant on Friday or saturday nights. You can also have a high calorie dessert once a week. Just make sure you go back to your planned meals by Monday.
In NO tie you will have all the calories of everything memorized and won't have to figure it on paper any more.
I promise. If you follow my weight planning method, you will be only 98 pounds like I am.
I'm 5'4", so you would probably not want to weigh that little.
You can pad your caloric intake to probably 150 calories a day.
The hunger pains stop quickly if you DO NOT put ANYTHING in your mouth until 12 hours have passed.
In a week you will be eating this way and fill up easily and it now will be a lifestyle of eating. Not a diet.
I NEVER feel hungry after I eat until 12 hours have passed. I wasn't always that way either.
I discovered this method on my own through trial and error.
It is a very easy eating plan that I can guarantee works! I promise you. AND it's SOOOOO easy!
GOOD LUCK and remember, don't cheat by snacking even on the corner of a cracker. It will stimulate yourbrain to make you hungry, in the same amount of time that elapsed since your last meal. Youwill be screwing yourself.
Avoid temptation for just 3 or 4 days and you will be home free! I promise!

You need to make time for yourself and your health. Stop making excuses for why you cannot exercise. Schedule an appointment with yourself and the gym (or walking, bike riding, etc) for at least 30-45 min. Plus you can do little things that add up - take the stairs instead of the elevator, park farther away in the parking lot, do butt squeezes when you are sitting at your desk, etc. Drinking water is a good way to avoid inappropriate snacking. Eat many small meals that include healthy snacks. Some stuff you could eat at your desk as a snack or things like carrots, apples, low fat/calorie granola bars, etc.

Eating healthier is always a good idea, but eating lighter works too. Eat smaller portions. Also walking more is a good way to get a little extra exercise. When you go grocery shopping, park further from the door, if your job is on the 2nd/3rd floor - take the stairs. You would be surprised how much this can help. You can always try doing some small exercises at your desk. Tightening and releasing different muscle groups can be an effective way to gain muscle and burn some calories. Exercise is the best way. Unless you have a disability that keeps you from exercising, that is your best bet. Exercise will give you more energy and help you sleep better.

The best thing you can do is figure out a way to squeeze some exercise into that busy schedule of yours. I know how hard it is to do... one thing that really worked for me was biking to work. Since I had to commute anyway, why not make my commuting my exercise? Don't know if there is a way to get exercise worked into what you already do.
It certainly is not healthy to substitute snacks for meals. You'd be better off simply moderating the calorie intake of each meal, ditching the snacks (probably loaded with transfats anyway), and ensuring you're getting a little from all the basic food groups.
Figure out how many calories you burn in a day (your doctor or a nutritionist can help), and then eat about that much a day in calories.

Its most healthy to eat smaller meals more often yes. Also if you sit at a desk all day long and don't excercise your body is going to retaliate with pains and weight. You have to excercise at night, before work, or on the weekends. This of course, will also help take some of the pounds off. Minimize junk food and fast food obviously.
