You can. You just need to make sure that your phone is "sim unlocked". Cingular will unlock your phone for your if you have had the phone for more than 3 months (just call their customer care them and they will do it for you). The same applies to t-mobile.
You can also use tools on the web to SIM unlock your phone if you are within the initial 3 month period.
From a technology perspective, a Cingular phone and a t-mobile phone are identical -- both use GSM technologies. Do note that Cingular often operates at a 850 frequency while t-mobile does not -- so make sure that your t-mobile phone is a quad-band phone (or that it support 850).
Good luck

The phone has to be an UNLOCKED phone in order for you to get cingular service in a tmobile phone. Just because they both use GSM technology does not mean that it will work. ANY service providers phone is NOT compatabile with any other network except the provider its self. If you bought the phone from a tmobile retailer im almost 100% sure that the phone IS NOT unlocked. If you put your cingular chip in the phone it will power on but you wont get any service.

As long as the phone is unlocked by t-mobile, then you can do it.
The code you want to ask t-mobile for is called the subsidy unlock code. Cingular will only gurantee that the voice portion of the phone will work, not test, picture or wireless internet but you can tweek the settings to get them to work. The phone will not be covered under warranty, guarantee, or insurance though.

yeah you can. because both are gsm, which means they operate on sim cards, so you can take it to a phone dealer shop and just ask if they do unlocking, they'll charge you anywhere from 5 - 45 bucks, depends on the phone and depends on the dealer, and then they'll unlock it for you. phones that you can't unlock are tdma, such as verizon and sprint phones. oh, by the way, i wouldn't recommend you trying to buy any program and wires to do the unlocking because it's pretty complicated, just try a few shops and ask if they do unlocking, its pretty simple
good luck with it

depends on the phone...most phones that you buy from companies are programed for that company only....so you can only interchange sim card within that company...but other phones have been programmed for use with any company...this is possible to do with any phone from what i hear but honestly i have no clue on how....soo...most likely the answer is no...sorry bout that!
