It means that as a lover he was clumsy and inept at making love but now that he is older he is more skilled and knows how to please his woman to a level that he never could as an amateur "all hands grabbing butt boy/teenager/young man."

he had to grow up to learn how to please his woman rather than just going through the motions to get his rocks off. That's the difference in a real man and a young "life-support system for gonads and a penis."

No excitement today, it's only Monday :( blahh.... I experience that "oohh I forgot how awesome that song is" feeling pretty much every time I throw an album in the player because I have so many that I barely ever repeat a song. I slapped in a Guess Who album last night and was rockin' out to the song "No Time". I've always enjoyed the band but they aren't usually on the top of my mind so when I hear a song that isn't in frequent rotation, I tend to fall in love with the particular tune all over again.

It means when he was younger he could do something well many times. Now he can still do things well, but only once.

he is saying he isn't good as he was and then he says he wasn't really that good b/c he says he isn't good now but he is as good as he used to be
