It is definitely a problem, and no it is not normal. I have lots of experience with this same problem. My ex-husband was a compulsive liar, literally. It was incredibly frustrating. He would lie about the smallest things, even when the truth would have sounded better. I never would know if he was lying or not no matter what the subject matter. He also lied about bigger things, which eventually resulted in our divorce. I would be very careful if I were you.

In some countries, for example in Russia, people are used to lying because during the Communist system lying was the only way of survival. In some other cultures, for example in Latin America, lying is not considered a big deal. So, what I am saying is that there could be cultural reasons for lying. But if your husband grew up in the US, then there must be some other explanation. In any case, talk to him about it and take him to couples' councelling. If nothing works, start thinking about divorce.

My husband lied about cheating with the same person 3 times same girl but he didn't believe he was lying. I think that they convince themselves that they are not lying. But unless you are willing to stand up and not accept the lying he will continue to lie to you. Good luck

A good liar starts at a young age and usually later on in life is totally convinced that he is telling the truth! It's a sickness if it happens constantly and can really become a serious problem in the marriage! Confront it, if it won't stop, remove yourself from the situation and move on with your life! I know, I was married to one and I took my own advice!

Lying is NOT normal. He's got problems. You should teach him a lesson by leaving him for awhile. Don't divorce him, but just give him an ultimatum. You both oviously don't have good communication w/eachother. Ever consider marriage counseling?

if he lies about going out he is probably doing something he shouldn't, I don't believe people lie unless they have a reason to, so maybe a better question would be "what is he hiding from you?"

maybe it's a medical problem,or he's just likes to lie,or he's not a good man to you because he's lieing.but if i was you i would go with him to see a doctor and make sure that it's not medical and if it is im sure theres somethimg that could be done, good luck and i hope things turn good out for you as well.

This is a problem. You need to get to the bottom of it quick. This sort of habitual thing can and is a deal breaker if left unchecked and unfixed.

That's what they do. Men lie to get a date w/ you, lie about their past, lie about everything. They are immature and they want to get they're way, so they lie.

draw up divorce papers before it's too late.

Tell him to shut up already, you don't believe a damn word he says so why bother trying?
