The best BAND from the 80's for me would have to be Duran Duran. They most definately make me remember a happier time...when MTV actually showed videos, Saturday morning was for cartoons, and with every cartoon there was a moral lesson(everything you needed to know in life, you learned from Orko).

Duran Duran had the greatest songs, they were fortunate enough not to become victims of the illustrious "ONE HIT WONDER" craze the eighties were notorious for (huh, funny). They wrote their own songs and could actually play their instruments. And Simon was hot.

The Go Go's. They were the first all female band to play their own instruments and write their own songs, that's quite an accomplishment! They had awesome songs, such as We Got the Beat and Our Lips are Sealed, that went on to be hits. Their other songs that weren't as popular were great too. Even when they went solo they were amazing (ex: The Delphines and Belinda Carlisle's Heaven Is A Place On Earth) Then they got back together and made an even more amazing album: God Bless The Go Go's. I love The Go Go's, they are the best!

The Red Hot CHili Peppers.....why? Well because they fused Rock, Punk, and Funk together to form something Magical. All of the members are truly talented....Anthony, John, Flea, and Chad. And YES they did form and get signed to a record label in the '80s. Mothers Milk which was done with all of those members was released in 1988.

There are waaay too many, but I'm going to go with The Clash because they've helped shape music so much and modern day musicians are always inspired by them regardless of what style/genre of music they make....London Calling, yay Clash!
