Whenever I go shopping, most people tend to park their cars as close to the store as possible. Very few park far away. I park my car far away from the store so it forces me to get some exercise. Why don't alot of people do the same?

I find my car easier when it's parked far away. It's harder to find your car when it's blended with all the cars parked close to the store.

That is why you have a shopping cart to carry your loads. And the heavier it is, it's working your arms.

Wrong! the mugger/rapist/or what have you will catch the victim who's car is blended amongst other cars. This way mugger are camoflauged.

Wrong again! I have parked my car close to the store before and I couldn't find my car because it was camouflaged with the other cars. I always found my car better when it was parked away the furthest.

The further away from the front of the store and all it's bright lights and many customers, the more likely I'll meet a mugger or rapist on the way back to my car. That is the biggest reason for me.
Second reason: in this weather it's best not to have the kids out in the cold air for longer than is necessary. Longer walks in the parking lot means more wind and exposure, even with their jackets and hats on.

Back problems, knee and foot problems, time constraints, breathing problems, fear of getting mugged, and any number of legitimate reasons. The 2 minutes of cardio you are getting really aren't making much difference....to benefit from walking,it must increase your heart rate and this must be sustained for longer than it takes you to walk into the store. If you really want to improve your health, walk TO the store or mall from home or park at least 1 mile away. Don't feel smug and superior for that little walk and judge others for not doing the same, they may have very good and personal reasons why they park close to the store.

Parking close to the entrance of a store makes it easier for you to find your car.Plus most stores don't have enough handicap spaces to accommodate those who can't walk long distances.
It also helps being closer in case someone tries to break into your car, then maybe others in the store or parking lot will be a witness if it is..
Most cars that are broken into, are parked away from the main entrance...Think about it.....

I am the same way. I park near the end of the parking lot. I get more exercise. I avoid door dings from people getting in and out of their cars. And I have less chance of a run away shopping cart from hitting my car.
It drives me crazy when someone(parked near the front) is loading groceries into their car and another person is waiting for them to finish loading the groceries and backing out so that they can get the parking spot close to the front

I'm not lazy (I work out 2 hrs a day) but I do want to park as close as possible. I have back problems & don't want to be carrying heavy packages across a huge parking lot. So there can be reasons other than just laziness, but sometimes people are just being lazy.

Unlike you, they don't want to exercise. They want to get in the store, and out, as fast as they can.
I don't drive, but whenever I go to the store, I make whoever's driving park far away to walk far (I like walking!) I use the excuse that "It's easier to leave if we park away from the other cars". It works most of the time. But when it doesn't, I'll just walk around like an idiot around the store to make up for not walking in the parking lot.
Exercise is good, I wish more people thought like you and me!

Err...who wants to walk farther lol
Not me!!
Edit-
You're right, I am lazy! lol
Point is, I don't see the point in parking all the way in the back just to get what, a little tiny bit of exercise? Are you speed walking lol i'm j/k.. I park in the back if there are no closer spots though.

What I really love are the really fat people that have handicapped hang tags for their cars so they can park really close, thereby getting even less exercise. I would like to see anyone that fat forced to park as far away from the stores entrance as possible. Then we can watch them sweat a little on their way to buy more twinkies.

they don't want to walk so far, they are in a hurry, if its dark at night it is kinda dangerous if it is far away because people can't see if someone is there like a robber. maybe also cuz of tha weather like maybe its raining, they dont want to get wet! and the truth is some people are jus too lazy!
well also if is cold even with a jacket it is still cold!
