As Far as I know they are moisture absorbing crystals to keep the shoes or what ever the product that it usually come in moisture free during storage.

I believe that they are like the small packets in your vitamin bottles too: if so, they are chemically active compounds that have a property called "hygroscopic" meaning, literally, that they LOOK ("scopic") for WATER ("hygro"). So they work silently to keep the moisture down in your new shoes, probably helping prevent moisture-thriving negative conditions like mildew. :-)

it's probably selica gel, to keep the shoes from humidity and prevent them turning moldy.

It is silica gel, it is a desiccant--a substance that is supposed to absorb humidity.
