i have to explain genetic mutations and use "0.05 probability"-ANYONE KNOW HOW THEY ARE RELATED?1

If you use the chi-square formula, which is the sum of the observed results minus the sum of the expected results squared divide by the sum of the observed results, obtaining a number. Then there's degrees of freedom. That's the number of variables or conditions you have subtract by one. You would have to use the degrees of freedom and the chi square number and look up a probability number on the probability chart. If P is equal or less than 0.05 it means that the expected results are more due to factors other than chance. If P is more than 0.05 it would be due to chance.

OK - 0.05 is usually the level of statistical significance used in statistical tests. It has nothing to do with genetics. So I am guessing that you were given some set numbers related to the frequency of genetic mutations, and you are supposed to calculate or compare mutation rates with 95% confidence limits. This means that you are excluding 5% (0.05) of the most extreme values.

A .05 probability is still a probability! If it was "whether you would wake from a coma or not" You might be encouraged to wait a day or two be for discontinuing artificial intervention. So with that in mind, you might make a Theseus that shows how many times genetic mutations occur in the frog, if that is to much of a probability, check on fruit flies exposed to some chemical.
