So without being Bias:
Playstation 3 is new and as such has a limited game library, it comes in 2 formats, one for 500 and one for 600. The $500 system is with a 20gb hard drive, no wireless internet and no HDMI port system. The $600 version come with a 60gb hard drive, wireless internet and HDMI ports. Both versions include a blu-ray player, one new standard that holds about 3 times as much as a dual layer DVD. The Controllers on the PS3 are also motion sensored, similar to Nintendo's Wii. They are wireless controllers that can be charged by a USB cable to the system. This is included. You can also buy a adapter for the system to transfer your game saves from PSX and PS2 to the PS3 hard drive (costs $15 I think). PS3 is backwards compatibile out of the box as well.
The 360 has been out for a year, has a decent library of games and has Xbox Live. (PS3 has Sony Online, a free version of something similar to XBL, but I don't think Sony's is as good mostly due to it being free). 360 does not have a upgraded DVD system drive (Either blu ray or HD-DVD) but you can purchase an HD-DVD player for $200. 360 also has 2 versions a $300 version and a $400 version. The 300 version does not have a hard drive and will need either a hard drive or memory card unit before youcan save anything. Live has 2 versions, Silver which is free and can do just about everything Gold can do, but without playing online (such as downloading demos and video clips). Gold allows online play and costs $60 a year. The $400 version includes a 20gb hard drive. It does not come with wireless but it can be purchased for $50 if it was the xbox1 adapter or $100 for the 360 adapter. 360 controllers can be wireless or wired (wireless costs 50, while wired is 40). Wireless controllers can use rechargable packs which can be purchased for $20 and includes a battery pack and the USB needed to connect and chrage the controller, which can be done while playing or elsewhere. They do not have motion sensors. You can also purchase quick chargers, or extra battery packs (packs cost 12 I think). 360 is NOT backwards compatible out of the box. You need to get emulation software from xox live or ordered from Microsoft. The software is free from Live, I'm not sure about other sources. Each game needs an emulator and must be on the backwards compat list or it will not have one, most of the major xbox live games are supported.
Which brings to late something else, they cost about the same for an equal system. 360 starts at 400 (with hard drive), add $200 for the upgraded DVD system, add $50 or $100 for wifi and you can't replace the hard drive yet (if ever). Final price = $650 - $700.
So there you are, I hope that helps!

Whew, well, there different systems. The Xbox 360 is from Microsoft and has a disadvantage in this new generation. No motion sensors. The Playstation 3, or PS3, has on motion sensor, costs $200 dollars more, and, is more powerful. However, I still am not a big fan of it. Also, there is a Nintendo Wii, it has two motion sensors, one per hand, it has a controller for each hand. The PS3 is from Sony, The X360 is from Microsoft Game Studios, and the Wii is from Nintendo.

The difference sir!! is really minimal and Paying $600 bucks for a "Crapstation 3" really is not fair. The xbox 360 to date has the same graphics as the Aforementioned piece of cow crap but is less expensive, xbox 360 has more games and boasts genres for a broader audience. So "Crapstation 3" is a worthless investment. If you want a worthwhile game console stick with the Microsoft X box 360 or The Nintendo Wii. Dont waste your money on Sony!!

$600 vs. $400
Blu-ray vs. DVD-9
Sony's online vs. XBL
Sixaxis vs. Rumble
Whoever said the PS3 was portable is out of her mind. The PS3 60 gb is HEAVY, much heavier than the 360 and XBX.

A great many things. Check out the articles on wikipedia for each. It would be much easier and isn't going to be subjective like everyone on here will be.
