It is hard to argue against them. Current ODI and Test Championship leaders, World Champions, and the only team to beat every other test nation home AND away in the last ten years. Australia holds an 11 point lead of 2nd place England on the test table, and a 5 point lead over SA on the ODI table.
Despite losing the Ashes last year (only blemish on otherwise remarkable copybook), they have had an awesome 24 months, and brilliant build up to world cup defense.
Lets look back at the last 24 months:
TEST:Currently leading 2-0 (best of 5) vs England (H).
ODI: Champions Trophy - Champions (4W, 1L)
ODI: DLF Cup - Champions (3W, 1L, 1NR)
ODI: 3-0 vs Bangladesh (a)
TEST: 2-0 vs Bangladesh (a)
TEST: 3-0 vs South Africa (a)
ODI: 2-3 vs South Africa (a)
2020: 0-1 vs South Africa (a)
ODI: VB Series(h) - Champions (8W, 3L)
TEST: 2-0(3) vs South Africa (h)
2020: 1-0 vs South Africa (h)
ODI: 2-1 vs New Zealand (a)
TEST: 3-0 vs West Indies (h)
TEST: 1-2(5) vs England (a)
ODI: 2-1 Natwest Challange vs England (a)
ODI: Natwest Series (a) Shared with England (3W, 2L, 1NR, 1T)
2020: 0-1 vs England (a)
TEST: 2-0(3) vs New Zealand (a)
ODI: 5-0 vs New Zealand (a)
2020:1-0 vs New Zeland (a)
ODI: VB Series (h) - Champions (6W, 1L, 1NR)
TEST: 3-0 vs Pakistan (h)
So, a breif summary of Australia's games from December 04, to December 06 looks like this:
Tests: played: 24, won: 18, lost: 2, drawn: 4
ODI: played: 55, won: 38 , lost:13, NR: 3, Tied: 1
2020: played: 4, won: 2, lost: 2
Well, what can you say to that? Is awesome a strong enough word??

Yesturday Australian cricket team was the best in cricket... no way should Australia won that game... I would give them 9/10 only because some of the player are getting old... But with Ponting being the best bats man in the world at the moment and the other supporting acts how can we be beaten...
Clean sweep for the Ashes

Based on their performance in the 2nd Test Ashes series, they deserve the rating of 10 out of 10. It was a fantastic effort of Australia to win the test match.

The best, terrific.
Mathew Hayden -----------------0.5
Justin Langer -----------------0.5
Ricky Ponting ------------------2.0
Damien Martyn -----------------0.0
Michale Clarke -----------------0.5
Hussey ------------------2.0
Adam Gilchrist -------------------0.5
Shane Warne -------------------1.5
Bret Lee -------------------0.5
Sturat Clarke --------------------1.0
Mcgrath ---------------------------1.0
10 out of 10.
All players are good and if one fails, others make up for him. As Warne, Ponting, Hussey are doing. The above rating is on present form. This does not hold good all the time as if Ponting fails, someone lese will make up for him.
What is true that as a team its 10 out of 10
