Agree with MLK.

And how about Lech Walesa. With 'Solidarity' he made a huge contribution to bringing about the end of communism in Poland. He was a great voice for the workers against terrifying odds and was a genuinely inspiring figure. A shame that he's become a bit of a laughing stock in Poland since Communism - I suppose one of those cases where a brilliant leader in adversity doesn't make for a successful politician in more peaceful times. Still nothing should detract from what he achieved or from his legacy.

Guido Fawkes. He left a legacy of celebrating Bonfire Night on November 5th and he inspires people to let off fireworks in his honour.

There are plenty of others but they don't inspire as many people.

Frantz Fanon, Rosa Parks, James Meredith, Gandhi, Nelson Mandela, Ho Chi Minh, Ernest Bevin, Aneurin Bevan, Cesar Chavez, the student who stood in front of the tank in Tianmen Square (sorry, forgotten his name), Paul Robeson, Aung San Kyi - too many to name. And all the nameless fighters against oppression and injustice who sat down in front of the beatings, stood up against the bosses, spoke out for right against institutionalised wrong. And all my friends around the world who struggle all day long to bring a decent life to the millions who suffer violence and want every day of their lives. La lutta continua!
