Can you help us with our winter auto survival kit?

My daughter's class is putting a shoebox of stuff together, then will raffle it off. Maybe it will inspire others to do the same, given the recent stranded folks. Hoping the Dad is found soon. Anyway, can you think of any other items that may be included or did we cover it? Thanks!

Instead of a flashlight with batteries, one of those shake-up flashlights would be better since batteries tend to run out faster when it's cold.

Those hand crank radios that also have a built in flashlight are good too. Better than the battery ones because who knows how long you might be stranded. For winter time, a small shovel and kitty litter to help dig car out, or in case of a blizzard to keep show from covering tail pipe. If collecting water other than water bottles, you need chemicals (some come in pill forms) to put in the water for making it safe to drink. "Potable Aqua Water Treatment "

If they don't have much room try limiting space by packing a no nonsense water filter they are very small and can be used for long periods.
1.You won't have frozen water!
2. More room!
3. One bottle would be sufficient for two-three people!
Also a couple of iodine pills for cleansing water could be very helpful. Good Luck with that.

You forgot a portable heater that plugs into your cars outlet to warm your hands. Also a portable (camping) stove incase your water freezes and there is no wood. A map of the area you are going to incase the snow has covered the roads. Reflecting flags, it helps rescuers spot you.

What do you have to burn
and also what's in the first aide kit very important! Other wise it looks complete
If you wanted a real complete one you could add jumper cables
I would add also Duck tape you really need that in a car if a hose blows

Glow sticks. you know, the kind you "snap" and they glow.

Also, how about some of those heat packs where you smack them, shake them, and they get hot and stay hot for a couple hours. They are cheap.

a candle and matches. the flame from a candle is enough (in a car) to keep you from freezing to death. I don't know how cold it gets where you are at but around here its a must in any vehicle.
