Yes, however, configuring it can be difficult for the novice user.
You will need an ethernet cable and ethernet network card on one of your PCs. Linksys broadband routers do not require broadband, as a user above suggested, if you set it up as an access point. I have something similar at home, I use my router only as an access point. The default setting of linksys routers is "gateway mode", to act as a gateway to the Internet for high speed connections. however, you can set it to "router mode", and have it act solely as an access point, and simply set your PC to be the gateway.

I can't believe i just closed the window accidentally and lost all i had written ...
Redsoxxer sends you to the link for a seemingly popular router specifically for dialup. I don't have one of these particular routers myself, but generally speaking, routers are fairly easy to set up. If done so correctly, as long as the devices your son wants to use online are equipped with network cards or something akin to them, which i'm sure they are, then he's good to go. keep in mind, though, that because he'll be using dial-up, and especially "wi-fi" dial-up, the performance in speed he'll want probably won't be there which may pose a problem for optimal play. Good luck :)

a wireless router will only work on a DSL or cable connection. So no, getting a router with a dial-up connection won't work. I don't know of any way to use Wi-Fi without a "high speed" connection.

no. there are no linksys wireless g broadband routers that can work with dialup connection. for the commonsense logic that wireless g is really fast internet access (speed at up to 54Mbps) and that would be wasted on a 56k analog modem based internet dialup connection.
i think you may be confused between dialup (using a 56k analog modem) and DSL (or ADSL).
there might be wireless routers that can work with dialup connection but i don't know any.

hi john, without the software what your friend gave you is junk. and i cannot brag on linksys anyway tried to install one and i could not get it installed so i called my isp tech support and they worked for two days to tried to get it to work and they gave up so. lets aproach this from another direction anything that you install has to have a driver and that driver works off of an adaptor so without the software you cannot get the drivers nor the adaptors so your at a dead end. sorry about that good luck hope this was helpful.
