Well I got my first period at 11. I was so not into tampons until 15. Now its all i use. I used to be afraid of them. If they hurt do not use them. Make sure you read the directions and make sure it is in the whole way but leave the strings dangle on the outside of your body. I am 17 now and just saying dont use it if it hurts. Your friends dont feel your pain when you tried a tampon. Its your own business and your choice not your friends. Good luck hun. If it is in the whole way then you wont really notice it. Best is to sit on the toilet and insert it pushing it in towards your tailbone. When you remove it, remove it in the same position.

If you can feel it at all, it's not in properly. Squat over the toilet, push the head of the tampon into your vaginal opening aiming toward your lower back, on an angle. Push the tampon in until your fingers touch your body, then push the plunger in. It's much more difficult to do it if you are not bleeding much, if you are dry. Perhaps you didn't have it in all the way before.
You'll know when it's time to change it. I'll feel the tampon moving down a bit, or you'll notice a bit of seapage onto your panties. . .use a light days pad. It'll come right out when you pull on the string. As you are bleeding less, use a less absorbant size. It'll be a bit harder to pull it out as you are coming to the end of your period. I've had it happen before where it actually felt like I wasn't going to get it out! Don't leave one tampon in for more than eight hours.
I was 15 or 16 when I first used them, and I remember thinking "OH MY GOD! I GOT IT IN!" lol. Man, once you get the hang of it, it's like you don't even have your period. Just be patient. You'll get the feel for your body, the way you're angled. Good luck!

ok well tampons can hurt if they arent used correctly.i would advice using an ob tampon. they have no applicator to fight with, all you do is take the plastic off, pull the string to the left side then the right just to make sure the string is attached to the tampon good. then relax and line the tampon up with your vagina and as you start to put it in aim the tampon at an angle that the tampon would be aiming the lower middle part of your back. push the tampon in until you cant feel it but make sure some of the string is still out so you can remove it easly. but if its in right you shouldnt feel it at all. if you can feel it relax remove that one and try again. its ok if you mess up just try it again you will get the hang of it. and its very rare to get tss it is caused by using the wrong absorbancy lets say you are having a lite day then dont use a super absorbancy tampon. and change your tampon at least every 4 hrs or every time you go to the bath room least thats what i do. and tss is very very rare. i have used tampons sence i was 13 now im 25 and i have never gotten tss. but if you try tamons and dont like them thats fine but i think you would probly like them. me i cant stand my skin feeling wet so thats a plus for me on a tampon and i cant stand feeling the blood leak out of my vagina it really grosses me out. and with a tampon you cant feel the blood leaking out. to me i think a tampon is a lot cleaner than a pad.

I started using tampons when I was 13. At first they would hurt, & then I got used to inserting them. It could be that you haven`t got it in properly. If you are tense, your muscles will tense up too, & make it harder to insert. Make sure you are relaxed when you try again. You could also try some KY Jelly to help lubricate a little bit too.Another tip is to use a low absorbency mini tampon, like Tampax Minis. Always read the instructions on the leaflet, & make sure you push your tampon in far enough. You should be left with just the string hanging out. If you want to, you can hold the string to one side when you wee. Final tip is NEVER leave a tampon in more than 8 hrs. If you do, you might risk getting TSS, which can be very nasty.
Good luck.

Yes that can be normal. Some women find tampons very difficult to use for years, some never find them comfortable and some prefer them. If you don't want to use one don't. There is no particular reason that you should, in fact health wise it has been shown that using pads is healthier than using tampons. Tampons if not changed very regularly can cause people to feel tired and run down and in a few very severe cases has lead to a condition call toxic shock syndrome. This is where people have become seriously ill from keeping tampons in for too long.
Use what you are comfortable with. What is normal for everyone else is not necessarily normal for you and vice versa.

hey girl!..well that means that you need to know how to use them!..cuz if it hurts that means that your not putting them the right way..try to use the small ones..don't buy the big ones!!..lol and when you are putting the tampon inside make sure that you can see the end of the tampon..has like a lil line..and when you get to that line just push it and take the plastic out! :D

It really shouldn't hurt. It could be you didn't get it all the way in. That can cause some real discomfort. You have to put it in so only the string is out. Put it in until it stops. That should be leaving only the string. Hope this helps.

You shouldn't try to put one in if you don't know. Go to www.beinggirl.com. Under the goods. then click tampon. It has instructions and a short video.

My answer would be no. I don't ever remember having any type of pain or discomfort. You should consult a gyno before you use them anyhow. Check out the website below. you can ask any menstrual question on line and they will answer it real time.

If it hurts u are not doing it right. Insert full applicator.. all the way in til ur fingers touch ur vagina... push thru the cotton 'insert' and remove entire applicator (both sections)... you should be A-ok!
