No jeans, but not an evening gown or tuxedo or suit. For guys a nice pair of slacks and a nice shirt with a collar, maybe a tie. For women, a nice cocktail dress and a pair of heels.

semi-formal means that the dress style is not casual. casual would be what you wear to school normally, like jeans and t-shirts. sem-formal is inbetween casual wear and formal wear, formal being like prom or a wedding. semi-formal dances usually have simple dress codes like no jeans or no sneakers.

semi formal means more than just jeans and a tshirt but less than a prom dress. i just wore a nice skirt and shirt combo or a dress.

Wear something that's not dressy but not casual. Like a black knee-lengh skirt with a cute top and some heels.
