Instrumental...you can't go wrong with Black Hawk Down, Gladiator, Children of Dune, Pearl Harbor, Patriot, The Last of the Mohicans, Meet Joe Black, Lord of the Rings (all 3), Enemy at the Gates.

Soundtracks...Romeo and Juliet (Baz's), The Crow and The Crow City of Angels (the movie wasn't so good, but the music was pretty great), Velvet Goldmine.

Aside from musicals or Disney movies, I'd go with a few like, in the past few years: Requiem for a Dream, Titanic, The Fountain, Solaris
