now how do you get the stain out?

I prefer an all purpose cleaner like Fantastik, 409 or Lysol All Purpose cleaner. Douse the stain really good with that, dab as much as you can up with a cotton towel, then let a few layers of paper towel lay on it for a while. This will prevent the stain from reappearing later because the paper towel forces all the moisture up, make sure you switch the paper towel every so often too.
