Girls and boys often enjoy playing the same sport. Some people believe that girls and boys should be able to play on the same team. You are suppose to be against this........... any ideas why girls and boys shouldn't play together on the same team? EXAMPLE)
(Did a bad job on it)
- Hurt
* Girls could get hurt because boys play too rough.
* Boys have stronger bones so if a boy and a girl bonk on each other, the girl could get hurt.
* They might not cooperate so they could get hurt.

( Please have at least three small details to go along with the main idea)

THANK-YOU!!!

Safety
Boys tend to be larger, and faster. These differences could cause injuries to female partipants in more physical sports.
Paticipation
If coaches go with the better players (bigger, faster) than girls would not get as many playing oppotunities and would thus not want to play. If coaches go with a split team, boys will feel they are not being challenged and may thus choose not to participate. Either way would probably lead to less oppptunity to participate.
Socialization
Children of both sexes form their identity through involvement with others. Their identity as a girl or a boy comes from the time they spend with others of their own sex. Sports is a major way in wich these identities are formed. The sense of belonging comes from being involved with ones peers with ones peers.

there are many reasons that boys and girls should be on seperate teams.

1. Different ways of relating to each other: A male may be unwilling to be rough with a female rather than another male for fear of hurting her. He may also be more aggressive to a female if he doesn't think she should be playing the game. Also game officials may be more or less strict with the rules. i was on a co-ed hockey team once and the ref called a penalty against a guy for roughing. i actually heard him say later that he wouldn't have called the penalty if it wasn't a girl that he had hit.

2. men and women are often at different levels: In most sports you will find more men than women and the more advanced levels you get the less females you get (in co-ed sports). part of our society encourages males to start sports younger and play sports more often. it's common to have a dad take his son to the park to play football but not as common with a daughter. if you take a high school age male and female the male probably would have been playing a given sport from a younger age.

3. body differences: Yes boys are rougher than girls but there is more to it than that. Men and women are built differently. they have different strengths and weaknesses. men have more upper body strength and women have more endurance. if you have a co-ed weight lifting competition a team with more men will probably be at an advantage whereas a long distance running team with more females would be at an advantage.

in my opinion these differences are less important at beginning levels. when everyone on the team is learning a sport there seems to be a lot of equality. Also everything i've said is a large generalization and there are many exceptions.
