We just recently had a ice/snow storm and my windshield wipers are acting funny. They work but when i turn them off instead of going down like they are suppose to they stick straight up. push them down and when I turn the key they go right back up? Anyone have a clue as to what's wrong with them? Please help me. LOL

I take it you own a GM car? We call it the hockey stick. It breaks off and causes the wipers to park straight up. You have to remove the wiper motor out pull the park mech. off and replace it.Happen all the time in cold or snow weather.

It may be the windshield has been contaminated with tree sap or pollen, or the blades are just dry. Try using the wipers and hit the washer fluid button to help lube them. If the noise goes away, then the blades are just dry. As far as the contaminants on the glass itself, try using a paint clay bar, this removes everything on the glass and gives a nice smooth surface for the blades to swipe over eliminating that shudder sound. good luck......

I don't have a direct answer...but some additional advice for the rainy (not really for the snowy) season. Rainex works great! You don't even need wipers with that stuff!

The load from the ice/snow moved the arms on the shafts that they hook to you need to remove them and put them back in the right spot. If i knew what kind of car it was i could tell you how to do this.

They're broken. Go get some new ones, or take it to a mechanic to replace them. The arms may need replacing too.

i own a repair shop,and the motor has gone bad on it,,it has a built in return in it,,and its bad,this is whats making them not go back down,,you,ll need to have a new motor put on it to get them to work right,,good luck,i hope this help,s.
