I'm older, but "back in the day" we had typewriters that did basic wordprocessing. A bit more time consuming, but not nearly as annoying as these bloody computers!! My typewriter never: refused to "communicate" with me like the puter does the printer, insisted on editing my writing (incorrectly at that!) in the middle of a project, flashed low battery/plug in warning when the d.mned thing IS plugged in!, "ate" my thesis by saying the file no longer exists (what?! It was there 10 minutes ago--give it back!). Wow, I could go on forever about this, but am feeling the sudden urge to strike any key. Maybe that'll show it whose boss around here.

A typewriter is faster, but you have to use correction fluid every time you make a mistake. Manual typewriters are more mobile (since they don't depend on electricity) but are often bulkier and heavier than electric or electronic typewriters. Ribbons for ordinary (non-electric) typewriters come in a few standard formats that are fairly widely available. Just Joking!

Because to use a computer requires turning it on, waiting it to load, opening up word and having to put all the settings down.

With the typewriter, you just put in a piece of paper and you're off.

well if we wanted to waste our time when we make a mistake or have to check if the spelling is right then we would use a typewriter.

The nice clicking sound. : )

And you have to know how to spell because you don't have spell-check. Seriously, I used to be a MUCH better speller before I started using word processors.
