i'm straight..and i shop there....i think you are reading too much into the symbology. you should be asking yourself why you don't feel comfortable anywhere that supports gay people....it's kinda prejudiced. not good. get over it.

I doubt the logo of the american eagle outfitters is created for the gay community, but maybe they support the gay community. I don't think you should mind if a certain company supports the LGBT community, because you will be sorely limiting your options. This would mean no more cool trainers (Nike), great cartoons and amusements parks (Disney), and bye bye to your Windows OS (Microsoft).

Your question made me curious because my daughter swears that American Eagle and Abercrombie and Fitch is just what all the kids in school have to have. I did a little research on this matter and found no mention of American Eagle as being a GAY apparel outfitter.

Favorite store to buy "gay" clothing and accessories..........

Winner: Marshall Field's

Runner-up: Gap

Marshall Field's bumped up to the number one spot this year, beating out more than 54 nominated stores! Even St. Vincent DePaul and the Salvation Army got votes!

So maybe American Eagle is not meant for gays? Just a mid-line store for affordable clothing?

So only gay people should live their lives and be free?

And who cares either way? You're saying that you'd feel uncomfortable with a company that supports gay people, but do you realize that many or most gay people have to feel uncomfortable in their workplaces that are not supportive of gay people? You know, if it really is a company of gay people, you'd be a lot more welcome there as a straight person than many gay people are at a company of straight people. Consider yourself lucky to be in any workplace that is accepting of who you are.

Let's see: "Live Your Life" and an American Eagle=support for the gay community. Wow! That's deep.

I don't think they're trying to cater to anyone except "freedom-minded" shoppers.

Please sell the merchandise. And if it really concerns you that you might be working for a company that wants to appeal to the gay community, maybe you ought to find a job somewhere else...like a Catholic bookstore.

I don't think that's directed to just the gay community, but I love American Eagles clothes! you don't have to be gay to support the gay community, but, I take it from your question, that you apparently have some problem with us. what difference does it make if American Eagle supports us? open up your mind and grow up! (and please use spell check!)
