Wander through this section, and check out the questions from the pregnant teen-agers. They get pretty beat up on, and sometimes I have little sympathy given the sort of --

"ok so lik im 15 and i rilly luv my BF and i only have 1 baby so how long before i can have 2 babies?"

-- _garbage_ these kids come up with. There's clearly a healthy dose of societal pressure against teen-age mothers; even the most responsible one with the results of the worst sort of birth control accident she had nothing to do with, the most supportive partner and parents, etc, etc, would still get her and her child, well, cr@pped upon to some degree.

That doesn't make them "good," though -- work on your phrasing if you want to win the debate. "Potential for positive impact," say. And there aren't really any "facts" about "good." Point, maybe rather tenously, to income levels of people who became parents in their teens...?

the first thing i would do is drop the word "good" unwanted pregnancy, no matter how it is resolved is not good for anyone. Girls who become pregnant and do not want the baby or do not want to be pregnant often get an excellent education in birth control at the clinic when they go in. They will be offered ALTERNATIVE birth control after the procedure is complete. Abortion allows girls to end a pregnancy in the first trimester therefore continuing on with their school careers, sports, jobs etc. They can avoid the stigma of being a "slut" and may be able to prevent being ostracized by their peers and/or family. Abortion is a serious decision and is not a viable form of birth control. Abortions are painful and scary, they should be used as a last resort. If a girl has been raped and doesn't want to suffer through 9months of sickness, weight gain, depression, and embarrassment an abortion can be the best route. I hope some of this helps. Good luck with your debate. If you are required to show photos or "exhibits" try plannedparenthood.com to show what a fetus looks like at 4 weeks, as your opponent will likely have several pictures of dead 3 month old babies to creep everyone out.

Debate wise..... With abortions, teenage mothers can continue their education, they don't have to worry about how they are going to raise a child with no father, the child would not have the chance of being killed by the mother later on due to neglect, and I know this sounds crazy, but maybe it could teach some a lesson about having unprotected sex. Like i said in a previous post, I had an abortion 2 years ago, and I will NEVER go through that again. It is worse than childbirth and the emotional scars it leaves are with you always. I really hope that I have helped you.

Well personally I don't agree with abortions..
But I can help out anyway.
People need to be open-minded I guess.
Think of it this way..
A teenage girl who was raped shouldn't have to deal with having a baby.
Also, if she was too small to have the baby [some teenage girls don't reach puberty very early and their hips would still be too narrow to deliver a baby without dying] and it could kill her, she should probably get an abortion.
Another possiblity [and stay open-minded, this is a sick world] is that she could have been violated by a father or a brother or something like that. The baby would be massively screwed up. It could even die before it came out. Then you should get an abortion.
It's quite debatable..

THIS IS NOT ALL TEENS, JUST MOST!!!
I look at the average 17 year old and see them spending $20's like $1's, and $100's like $20's. It is sad. Also most teens have no clue about the real world, just the one in highschool, or maybe in their home, but they really havent gotten a chance to grow up. I hate it that most teens are handed everything now. I get cut off by some 18 year old in a benz and they flip me the bird, that hapens too often.
I also hate the attitude alot of them have
"my life is so hard, i cant go hang with my friends today cause i got caught steeling $20.oo! I hate my mom and I hate my life! I wish i would die!!" I really hate that...

Please email me, so i can really give you an example, i would like to give you my life as one, but it gets a little personal, so e-mail would be best.... Darkgothvamptress@yahoo.com

Most teen aged girl's bodies are not developed enough to carry a HEALTHY pregnancy full term. While they might be able to carry to term more often than not the baby is low birth weight, or has multiple complications due to the underdevelopment of the mother. Quite often teen births are premature and again frought with massive amounts of complications and even death.
For the mother she can wind up having to have a hysterectomy because the birth was too much for her underdeveloped body to take or she could die while in childbirth (that was the reason so many mother's in past centuries died giving birth, they were more often than not teens and were not developed enough to carry a healthy pregnancy), termination of a pregnancy early on alleviates these problems.

If you feel that you are not ready to have a child then abortion is the best thing to do. The problem with the world is peolpe not raising children in the best way. If you are not ready to lead and support a child for the rest of your life then you should have an abortion.

I am pro choice but that does not automatically make me pro abortion. I believe in a womans right to choose what she does to her own body and her right to get competent medical care from a doctor who is not going to botch a very delicate procedure.

There is nothing good about an abortion at all. if u do have sex use birth control or a condom or be prepared for the worst.
