1) You praise the UN with faint damn. they are orders of magnitude worse than Capone.
2) Dems hate him because he stands up for America. The can & did block his nomination.

There are a few reasons of why Mr. Bolton was let go. First, the democrats forced him out because of the method in which he was put into the position in addition no one approved of him he was too agressive and not diplomatic for a post at the UN. Second Bush has to comply with the democrats because his party is no longer in the majority of the house.

As a Democrat, I opposed Bolton's nomination. His previously made statements made me think he would be inappropriate for UN ambassador.
That said, I think he did OK in the role. He represented America's interests far better than I thought he would and I was hoping for a little bipartisanship on the behalf of the Democratic leadership.

He stood up for US rights in the UN. The Libs hate that, so they said they would not confirm his appointment. The want someone like them, anti-US.

He is one of the biggest Neo Cons in the US and many of his ideas got the US into the current mess in Iraq and nobody in the UN wants to work with him and that is major problem when trying to get things done at the UN.
