Yes you can, I had my period two weeks before I found out that I was 5 weeks pregnant. It was a normal period and I'll be 34 weeks pregnant tomorrow so obviously nothing bad happened to my child.

I've had two children and I had a small period for the first couple of months with both pregnancies. So, yes you can.

NO, IF YOU ARE BLEEDING WHILE YOU ARE PREGNANT YOU NEED TO GET TO YOUR OBGYN ASAP OR ER. I'VE HEARD THAT FOR YEARS AND IT'S NOT TRUE. YOU ARE EITHER LOSING THE BABY OR SOMETHING MORE SERIOUS COULD BE HAPPENING WHICH NOT ONLY COULD ENDANGER THE CHILD BUT THE MOTHER AS WELL.
