so my dad's friend's mom just died, and my mom says i have to go to his wake and the funeral. the thing is, though, that i hardly knew her at all and i haven't seen my dad's friend (who is sort of like an uncle to us) in like 4 years. Also, the wake is on a friday night, one of the only free friday nights i will have in a very long time and the funeral on a saturday morning. i dont mind going to the funeral, but i dont really want to go to the wake on a friday night. Am i being unreasonable and/ or selfish?

Yes you are, your parents want you to show some RESPECT For a family friend, it's not his fault his WAKE is on Friday night.

This friend is like an uncle, go to the wake friday night, stay a few minutes, tell him how sorry you are then leave. Go to the funeral Sat and be done with it. Show respect, and keep the friendship alive when he needs it most.

What i suggested that you just go to the wake since he is close to your parents. What i think that you being selfish. By the way going to the wake is good deeds cause you show sympothy to the other family for the lost. Good luck
