A lot of reasons.
-The "It all works out in the end" concept. Being able to tackle something and ending up with something logical that your mind can understand.
-The Challenge. A lot of people view math as a puzzle. The feeling of having conquered a math problem is very rewarding.
-The Simplicity. To some people, math comes easily. They may not like the content, but they like doing math because it may come naturally to them.
Math fits all three in my case. Too bad I want to be a Spanish teacher :-D

People like things they are good at, and they like challenges which are difficult yet not impossible. Math provides a challenge which engages the mind and takes concentration, but it is a subject with discreet answers so you know when you were right. That makes solving math problems satisfying.

Cause they understand it!!!!
Personally I hate it... I have no interest in it and I don't think I ever will - but that's because I usually tend to get lost right at the Algebra II level!!!!

it can be challenging, and the teachers can't grade you personally, or with their opinion, there is one right answer, so they can't easily or fairly discriminate against you.
