Hey, here's a thought:
WHY is it that so many democrats are against capital punishment [because they believe it to be cruel and unusual], but they agree with abortion. The cases both envolve murder, its just that the people being killed are very different. In the case of abortion, the baby did nothing at all to deserve to be killed and has not even had the chance to breath its first breath. Capital punishment, however, is killing a person who has harmed others and does not deserve to live. Why should people have to pay for a man to live in jail when he seriously hurt someone? Why should we choose the criminals life over the baby's?

I have made that comment before and I don't understand it. They would rather save a criminal but murder an innocent baby. That party is so way off it is pathetic. I hope they lose in every aspect because they are doing more damage to this Country than people truly realize.

There is a big difference between the two. Whereas there are only the rights of the accused in dealing with the death penalty, there is the rights of two people in dealing with abortion. currently, the rights of an unborn child is incredibly limited, as their usual rights for being a person do not begin until they are born.
also, the constitution states there can be no cruel and unusual punishment for crimes committed, another highly debatable subject. Is death a cruel punishment, and if not, for what crimes is it not? Certainly in today's society it would be considered cruel for shoplifting.
I don't think you can make a connection between the two, as the reasoning behind them cannot be argued with the same argument that covers the differences between the two. Both pretty much come down to societal opinions, the same as if it was the opposite (pro-life + death penalty).

I consider myself an Independent, however, I do lean Democrat. I am not necessarily opposed to the death penalty IF the defendant is actually guilty. All too often, that has not been the case.
Comparing capital punishment and abortion is like comparing apples and oranges. One has nothing to do with the other. Of course, this will get into the argument as to when life begins. A clump of cells should not be afforded the same rights as a "breathing" human being. There is a difference. It's naive to think otherwise.

It's all economics... People get paid a great deal of money to take care of inmates in prisons and jails. No one pays anyone a damn dime to take care of an unwanted baby. Even foster parents often abuse and neglect their charges (not that they all do). People should have children because they want to. And, some strong-thinking social scientists contend that today's unwanted babies are tomorrow's prison inmates...

That is a great question!! Please send it to your congressman and senators, and ask what action they have taken to give justice to the aborted infants. Ask your govenor what he's doing to keep criminals in prison so that the rest of us are not put at risk by letting these guys on the street.

You make valid point, however, your statement mixes politics with ethics. not mutually exclusive to each other. A political answer wont be the same as an ethical answer.
