When they ask what are the phenotypes of the genotypes...Are they asking what are the possible outcomes of the offspring?
For example, the genotypes are PP,Pp,pp: so whould the phenotype just be polydactyly defective gene and normal gene

The phenotype is the visible outcome, such as the color of an animal's fur or the color of your eyes and the genotype is the genetic background - what is in the genes. For your example, if p was the defective gene and was recesive and P was the normal gene and dominant, then the phenotype for PP is normal, Pp is still normal, but pp is polydactyly defective (can't produce).

Hope that helps, otherwise email me with more genetics questions.

The phenotype is the physical expression of a gene. For example, if you had a genotype that specified the proteins needed to make blonde hair, then the hair itself would be the phenotype.
