The hamster is nocturnal; it wakes up at night. I recommend that, once the other hamster wakes up, you keep very quiet (at least every now and then) and listen for sounds of the hamster moving around.
You can set a trap for it; buy a live trap or rig up something baited with tasty food, something that will make the door close when it gets inside. You could open the cage in case it comes back (it probably will, but it will leave again if you don't have the cage rigged to close after it.) Of course, don't let the other one escape.
But you might open the cage and let the other one out under your supervision; it might lead you to the one that escaped.
Good luck.

The easiest way to find a hamster, is by putting some tasty food (seeds,apple...) in the middle of each room/kitchen, etc. and wait. You pay attention to put the same quantity in each place. Keep the doors closed between these rooms, and in 24 hours you will have your hamster or at least you will know what room hosts your hamster. They can clime between the walls and furniture, so you can also look on the furniture,in the furniture and under. A hamster is smart enough to get to places we would never dare to think. As a secondary advise, be gentle, loving, and whenever you have time, especially at evenings when they wake up of their beauty sleep, spend as much time as you can with your hamster. Let them discover your hand, but not to bite it. If they bite you, it might be because they got scared or your hands are smelling like food, and they want to taste it. I have 7 hammies, all cute. The most wonderful thing that can happento someone. They are just like my kids. All the best to you, detective, and good luck!

I had a pet gerbil once and she got loose but she came back to the same room that her cage was in. I set a live trap with some food in it and I caught her no problem. Before I caught her she was under the furniture and up along the walls. Good luck!

Well first go look for it, but be kind of quite, lift all the funture or look underit, and or stay home, or stay awake at night and put a whole bunch of food by his cage and wate for it. And or go look in dark places, they like barring them selfs.
