ok i understand montreal is in canada but i have to do a report on it and my teacher says that it is a country is she right

well montreal is a city, although it is technically an island, and is often refered to as the island of montreal.

Montreal is a region of Quebec. It is also an island in Montreal. It isn't overseas because Wikipedia says that it is between rivers. :) It is in Canada, and is kind of in the middle of the rivers. Look at the screenshot of the picture at the website and examine the little land...

I know because I live just on the south shore of Montreal.
it is about twenty twenty, five minute drive to the us border.
