If your BIOS doesn't support booting from USB, then it can't be done as far as I know.

You can find drivers that you can boot off the floppy, and give you access to your USB, but it won't boot off it.

I'd check for a bios upgrade, but if yours is current, then you may be out of luck.

Try looking for a BIOS upgrade for your motherboard.
There is no way to boot from a floppy and pass it of to a USB drive.

YES YOU CAN boot from a USB device.
Under the right circumstances.

Meaning you have properly configured and loaded the files onto the flash drive, from a bootable flopy,
and your BIOS allows for USB device boot.
If it doesnt youll need to try updating the BIOS, and even then its not guaranteed

It is a process. Ive had one friend show me his flasher, and shocked the heck out of me. He tried to explain how he did it, but I wasnt really listening -- I mean who needs a bootable flasher.
But now that I think about it..it would be kinda kool.

Do a keyword search under google, youll find out what you need there.

A USB drive is not a hard drive. It stands for Universal Service Bus, and is a connection device that you plug other hardware into. So, you can't boot from it or store on it. Linux will have to do on your hard drive.
