I need to know what type and the manufacturer of a furnace or heater you recommend for my house.

I have a house that is 3040 square feet. It was built in 1946. The insulation in it is not the best right now, but it is insulated. I have new replacement windows in here also. 1520 square feet upstairs, and 1520 downstairs. The downstairs is a basement, but not totally buried. I will only minutely heat the basement for now.

i do have natural gas available here. Propane can be trucked in, but I have to have one of those tanks on my land:(. Currently I have a 60 year old heating oil furnace. it worked right up until lastnight. It costs me $400 to $500 a month to run it, so I need to do some upgrading, and I need to do it fast. its not out of fuel

I live in North carolina right in the middle of the state, so climate wise, it gets around 0 on the coldest days. I do also want air conditioning with it. Let me know what you think. No wood stoves, I have one in my shop, and hate it

My advice is to go with a Ducane gas furnace because they have a lifetime warranty on parts due to being made of porcelain, & the furnace is made in the US & not overseas......yes it is more expensive.....also I would have an A/C & heating technician give you a free estimate on the size of your new furnace due to other intangibles like amount of windows, amount of insulation in your house, etc. that you did not mention.......the same with a new condensing unit ( for outside).....Enjoy your new system!!

Natural gas for heat. Goodman furnace. They are cheap but very dependable. I have several rent houses and they all have Goodman units. You could install a heat pump. They work ok, but the supply air is cooler than you would be used to.

Get a heat pump, they are great. They can heat or cool your home and heat your water. Not sure what brands are in your area, but stick to a name brand.
